About

My story so far...

As a passionate educator with nearly 12 years of experience, I am driven by a commitment to fostering positive change in education, especially in an era where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is profoundly impacting the field. Throughout my diverse roles, my goal has been to be a changemaker, shaping education to empower individuals, organisations, and communities. I firmly believe that education is a transformative force that shapes who we are and how we perceive the world. It is a process of learning and respecting everyone and everything alike, fostering understanding, empathy, and growth. My academic background includes a PhD in Education from Southern Cross University, Gold Coast, Australia, where I explored young people’s worldviews on climate change through Speculative Drama methodology. I also hold a Master of Arts in International Relations from Sri Lanka and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Psychology, and English Literature from Bangalore University, India.Throughout my career, I have held notable positions such as Project Manager for the New South Wales Council of Deans of Education Grassroots Research Agenda Setting Project, Student Experience Manager at Study Gold Coast, Program Support Education Officer (Community Action for a Multicultural Society – CAMS Program), Research Assistant on various Southern Cross University Research Projects related to Climate Change, and Digital Media Coordinator at Seylan Bank in Sri Lanka.Currently, I serve as an Educational Designer at James Cook University, where I am passionately involved in projects related to educational design, particularly in the context of AI’s rapidly evolving impact on the lives of lecturers and students. With a deep commitment to continuous learning and a drive to shape education for the better, I am dedicated to leveraging my expertise and experience to create innovative and inclusive learning experiences that empower learners to thrive in an ever-changing world.
